Contributing to the design of the agile culture and processes at a global software developer

The situation at the client

A few years ago, two big companies have merged in joint venture to offer customers with converged mobile and fixed products. This merger led to numerous new initiatives and projects. One of those initiatives was a Program for merging the technical functionalities of both companies and migrating the customers into one billing system.

Since the software developer is the IT supplier of the merged company, the company was also appointed as Lead Service Integrator for the program. This means that the party is responsible for the development, testing, part of the deployment and management of the various suppliers. The duration of this program is approximately three years and more than 350 employees from all over the world are working on it.

The program lies the foundation for integration of the two companies. All off the customers need to be combined within the technical environment.  

This innovative market is in a state of flux, which means that new functionalities will also be implemented in the new, combined, technical environment, which is still in full development. A great challenge! The client have chosen Scale Agile Framework as means of managing this program.

The solution from MOJEO

Rick Abbing from MOJEO has started working as Software Integration Manager and partly Advanced Scrum Master within the programme. Rick has adapted very quickly to the fast pace and complex world of large transformation programmes such as this programme. His main contribution was to deliver Minimum Valuable Solution (MVS) on time in the areas of Digital and Communications according to the client's guidelines". Rick is responsible for the software integration between the BSS system and the development within Digital (website and online environment, where customers can log in independently - unassisted) and Outbound communication (E-mail, letters, SMS).

MOJEO supports the communications software developers Lead System Integration activities mainly by implementing and managing Agile (SAFe) processes within the clients program, in particular the area of integrated, multi-vendor software development. Based on his knowledge and expertise, Rick acts as the internal ''question library'' for Agile and SAFe related topics.
