"Can you make sure we get a unified approach to projects within the project organisation?" "Can you also look at how we can get a better understanding of the resources needed for the current projects? "Do you remember how that previous project went about implementing new software, what went wrong, what went right? And what about all the current projects?" There you are, slowly it becomes clear. There is work to be done, but where do you have to start? Who would have thought you could abbreviate centipede in three letters? You look at your e-mail signature and you see it: Project Management Officer.
THE PITFALLS OF A PMO AND A PROJECT MANAGEMENT OFFICER
Everyone knows what project management involves, but opinions are divided about the interpretation of a PMO. Although more than 80% of organisations have a (kind of) PMO, several studies show that PMOs are set up without a clear goal or vision and without looking at the importance and wishes of the organisation. Manning and setting up a PMO is also challenging. The lack of a clearly defined PMO methodology is one of the main reasons for the failure of a PMO department.
But what do I know about it? I'm Levi Salassa, the Project Coordinator for the Mojeo Academy. Although I'm new to the wonderful world of project management (office), I'm lucky to have ended up in an organisation that is surrounded on a daily basis by experienced Project Managers and PMO people. Because my colleagues work in many different organisations, the office is a breeding ground for new insights and experiences. In addition, they have successfully implemented and staffed the Mojeo methodology within various organisations.
THE MOJEO ACADEMY AS A SOLUTION
Unfortunately, this is not the case for many of you PMOs on the front line, I'm aware of that. That's why we, from MOJEO, want to offer you the training that we also give to our PMO people. Our mission is that no project will fail and we believe that PMO can make a very big contribution to this. The figures from various studies do not lie, a large part of the organisations believe that PMOs propagate the culture of the project organisation.
In the Mojeo Academy we take you into the world of PMO with Mojo for a year. No hours of powerpoints and thick books that dust on the shelf, but through a varied combination of theory, practice and specific attention to the competencies that colour your PMO skills. Together with experienced Mojeo trainers you will work directly with the learned material on the basis of case studies. Then we will let you put it into practice in your organisation before we go any further.
